Pastel pink is more than just a colour – it's a mood, it’s a vibe! Whether you're dreaming of fairy floss clouds or envisioning a bubblegum sunset, pastel pink hair has the power to transform your look in one DIY-dyeing session.

Achieving the perfect pastel light pink hair requires a delicate touch and a little bit of daring: Grab your mixing bowls, get your gloves, and let's dive right in.

First things first, you'll need to gather your supplies. Remember, the lighter your starting shade, the easier it will be to achieve that soft, ethereal look and so we would always recommend bleaching your base to get a clean, even starting point. For true to shade pastels then you’ll need to start on a really light to white-blonde base.

Take your colour to the next level with  Crazy Color High Lift Bleaching Kit, follow the instructions included in the kit to achieve the correct base for your pastel shade.

Once you've got your hair prepped and ready to go, it's time to mix up your perfect shade of pastel pink hair dye.

Perfect your Pastel Pink Hair Palette!

Our Neutral Mix offers the perfect base to create your pastel pink look!

Start with a generous dollop of your chosen pink dye and mix in a healthy amount of Neutral Mix. The Neutral Mix works to dilute the colour and create that soft, pastel effect. Experiment with different ratios until you find the perfect balance of pigment for your chosen colour.

Now, here's where the fun begins – customising your pastel pink hair shade any way you want! If you're craving a warmer hue, consider mixing in a little rose gold or peachy coral. For a cooler undertone, try adding a hint of lavender or ice mauve. The beauty of pastel pink hair is its versatility, so don't be afraid to get creative and play around with different colour combinations.

When you visit each of our pink shades on our website, they have recommendations on how to mix for different results. On all  Crazy Color Semi Permanent Shades we have a digital shade guide which will help guide you to get the colour you want, this means you won’t be disappointed.

Application

Once you've mixed up your dream shade, it's time to apply it to your hair. Start by sectioning your hair into manageable sections and applying the dye evenly from root to tip. Make sure to saturate each strand thoroughly for maximum colour payoff, this is super important when it comes to pastels. If you're feeling confident in your skills, create a gradient effect by concentrating more colour towards the ends of your hair!

Now, sit back, relax, and let the magic happen. Leave the dye on for the recommended amount of time, then rinse it out with cool water until the water runs clear. You might want to leave pastel shades on a little longer and just check them to see how they are developing so you can achieve that saturated creamy pastel result. Finish with a nourishing conditioner or mask to lock in moisture and keep your pastel pink hair glossy.

How long does pastel pink hair last?

As pastel shades are the lightest, these won’t last just as long as the brightest vivids. There are lots of factors which impact how long your pastel pink hair will last, especially your individual hair properties and your aftercare process.

With the proper aftercare and minimising washing, pastel pink hair could last about 2 to 4 weeks. However, if you’re washing your hair any more than twice a week your pastel pink shade will last even less time.

Some shades will last longer than others, blue and green toned pastels will last slightly longer than the pinks and purples. The beauty of this? You can return back to blonde and switch it up more often!

Looking to make it last a little longer?

Going for a stronger shade that will wash out to pastel extends the colour, meaning you can rock the vivid hair and the pastel trends – it’s all part of the vivid hair journey.

Avoid hot water and heat tools. Avoiding heat at all costs will help prolong your colour as long as possible, make dry shampoo your new best friend, and rock the 3 day hair.
