As with all of our shades, the lighter the base, the more vibrant the result! To get the best results, we recommend using our High Lift Bleach Kit. Use this shade straight from the bottle on pre-lightened, bleached blonde hair - check out our swatch guide and do a strand test to get an idea of the result you are going to get. You can still use the dye on level 8 hair, or below, but the results will be tonal.

Customise Your Colour
Aubergine is a popular balayage colour, making the perfect shadow root hue for a red balayage. Simply start with our Aubergine Hair Dye at your roots, then about a third of the way down, blend it into another shade using a brush. We would recommend using a lighter shade of red such as Cyclamen or Ruby Rouge for perfectly blended ends.
Make Your Colour Last
Make Your Colour Last
Our Purple Shampoo will help to eliminate unwanted undertones and freshen up your Aubergine colour with each use. It's a super nourishing, 100% sulphate-free shampoo that will deposit pigment onto your hair and help to maintain the vibrancy of that purple shade for longer.
Does your Aubergine hair need a little TLC and a colour refresh? Mix a few drops of your Aubergine semi-permanent into any Colour Care Conditioner, cover your hair with this treatment and leave for a few minutes. Not only will it soothe your dry hair but it will freshen those purple tones too!
How Many Bottles Will I Need?
How Many Bottles Will I Need?
If you have short hair or are just looking to top up your colour, 1 bottle will do the job. We would recommend 2 bottles for lighter colours on short hair just so you can fully saturate each strand. 2 bottles for mid length hair - you need that full saturation and all important smooshing of the colour on your hair! Longer hair will need around 3-4 bottles to make sure every strand gets an even dose of colour.

Product FAQ's
Should I do a strand test before?
YES! We always recommend doing a Strand Test as this will give you a true indication of how the colour will take to your hair.
Check out our Strand Test Guide.
Does this work on grey/white hair?
Grey/White hair can vary massively in colour and porosity within each strand. Our Crazy Color shades work best on bleached hair, as it’s more porous and absorbs the dye better than unlightened hair. It creates a clean, uniform base for your new Crazy Color vivid!
How should I prep my hair before colour?
To get the most true-to-bottle shade, begin by pre-lightening your hair to the lightest blonde as this creates a clean uniform base for your chosen colour. Crazy Color works best on pre-washed damp/towel-dried hair. This can be messy ensure your surroundings are protected, the bathroom works best! Don't forget to wear gloves!
Checkout our How To Guide.
How do I prevent colour staining when applying?
To help prevent staining during application, we recommend always wearing gloves and protect clothing and surfaces with towels or protective coverings. You can use a barrier cream (like petroleum jelly) around the hairline, ears, and neck to stop the colour from staining the skin, or use our Crazy Color Colour Remover Wipes to remove any stains. Any splashes or drips should be wiped away immediately. After processing, rinse your hair thoroughly with cool water to help minimise any leftover colour transfer.
Should I wear gloves when applying?
Definitely! If you want to avoid having to scrub your hands afterwards! Our Semi-Permanents are saturated colours, so they can leave a colour stain on your hands - wear gloves to prevent this from happening.
How do I stop my colour bleeding?
Always rinse your hair with cold water and then apply our Anti Bleed Spray which helps to seal your colour and prevent colour bleed after dyeing – it can extend the life of your colour for up to ten extra washes! The ultra-low PH formula works in just 60 seconds, shutting down the cuticle, retaining the colour and actively extending the life of all coloured hair types.
How long will my colour last?
Semi-permanent colour fades from the first wash, that's what they are made to do. You can help maintain the health of your hair which in turn will help with the fade. Generally, our colours will fade out in between 10-12 washes but this depends on a number of factors including the health of your hair, your hair styling routine, how you wash your hair etc.

What can I use to maintain my colour?
Create a conditioning mask for your hair to maintain the vibrancy of your colour by adding a generous skoosh of your Semi-Permanent Hair Colour to our Rainbow Care Conditioner.
Taking care of your bleached & coloured hair is so important - keeping your hair in the best condition will help keep your colour vibrant for longer.
Checkout our Colour Care Guide or How To Make Semi Permanent Colour Last Longer blog.
How do I remove the colour if I don't like the shade?
Always carry out a strand test so that you can see how the colour will look on your hair prior to committing to dyeing your full head of hair. This is the simplest way to avoid unexpected or unwanted results.
